There’s a lot to explore in Tauranga, and if driving is the last thing you want to do, or isn’t an option for you there is still plenty of ways to make the most of our beautiful city. Whether you want to make the most of a day trip, or you just want to have a great night out on the town, we have the all of your options covered.
The BayBus is Tauranga’s best public transport option, with 12 bus routes which cover the Tauranga urban area – from Papamoa in the east to Bethlehem in the west and south to The Lakes. Running at various times during the day, grabbing a Day Saver all day bus pass for $7.80 makes for great and affordable means of traveling around the city.
If you are planning on staying out late to enjoy Tauranga’s vast and exciting nightlife, a taxi can be the safest way to move around the city, so you can focus on enjoying your night. Tauranga Mount Taxis have been operating in the area since 1967 and are part of the Nationwide Blue Bubble network; all drivers are vetted by the NZ Police, know the area well, have mobile access and even have an App to make life easier. Uber has also recently expanded to Tauranga, with a range across the central areas to make moving around the city a breeze.
Moving to and from the airport is an ease as well, with many shuttle services available to take you to and from the motel. The aforementioned Tauranga Mount Taxis offer a shuttle service, as well as Areolink Shuttles that have been operating for over 20 years and offer a great share ride service. Supershuttle is handy for fast traveling to the airport, and Luxury Shuttles have a great range of services for all your needs.
